Off Centre's Anti-Bullying Policy
Off Centre is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive community that encourages a lifelong love for dance and creative expression. To ensure that all performers can pursue their passion without fear of bullying, we have implemented a comprehensive anti-bullying policy that applies to our students, families, staff, and employees.
We define bullying as any physical, verbal, or written behaviour (whether online or in-person) that negatively targets another student, whether it harms them physically or emotionally, is based on an actual or perceived characteristic, or creates a hostile environment in the studio.
Reporting Bullying
We understand that underreporting is the biggest obstacle to stopping bullying. To address this issue, we have created an online form that students or parents can use to report incidents of bullying anonymously or with personal information. If you prefer not to provide personal information, we ask that you supply the date, time, location, details of the harassment, and the person responsible.
This information is sent directly to the studio administrators, who are responsible for enforcing the anti-bullying policy studio-wide. The administrators will contact the alleged bully, the alleged victim, teachers, assistants, and parents who may have witnessed the incident. If they find evidence that supports the report, a meeting will be scheduled to determine a course of action. Off Centre directors, Ryan Eaton & Ryan Newall, will also review any reports of bullying. All Off Centre personnel, including educators, associates, and administrative staff, must intervene if they witness or are made aware of bullying and must file a report online. If parents report an incident of bullying, they are also responsible for filing a report.
Violations
Off Centre has a Zero Tolerance Bullying Policy and will not tolerate any form of bullying, whether physical, emotional, social, or otherwise. One documented incident of bullying may result in immediate termination of enrollment for egregious violations, as we aim to empower individuals and celebrate diversity.
Furthermore, we recognize that bullying can occur not only between students but also between parents or guardians, who may face penalties and class cancellations without any refund for missed classes if they harass or bully another student, parent, or Off Centre staff member.
At Off Centre, we value respect and compassion and believe that all students have the right to learn and develop their art in a positive and respectful environment. We recognise that every situation reported through this form may require a unique follow-up.
